March 9, 2004
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Each year Carroll aponsors the Annual Walk for Education in which funds are raised for educational purposes. Due to the excessive amount of school time lost with the power outage in September, we could not have our scheduled Walk. The Twelfth Annual 10K Walkathon (6.3 miles) has been rescheduled for Friday, March 19,2004. This day is considered a regular school day and attendance will be required.
This promises to be an outstanding day for students to focus on the importance of healthy lifestyles among teenagers. We are encouraging you to volunteer your services and assist us wherever you are needed. The Walk begins on the National Mall at 4th and Madison Streets, NW near the west side of the Capitol facing the Washington Monument, and ends at Haines Point near the "Awakening." Students must arrive at the "Walk" site no later than 8:25 a.m.
As you well know, the much needed funds you raised helped offset the increasing cost of Catholic education. Nothing that is great or lasting at this school has been accomplished without your suppport. Our parents are integral to the success of Archbishop Carroll and ultimately to the success of your children. Thank you for your magnanimous generosity, for all your help in the past and for your commitment to the Twelfth Annual Walk for Education!
If you have any questions, please contact the school or the Walk Coordinators, Ms. Lucas (ext. 228) and Mr. Mathis (ext. 137).
Sincerely,
