OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide the African American student an opportunity to confront the dualism of being Black and being an American and to understand the possibilities of cultural pluralism
  • To provide the student with an understanding of the various social, cultural and historical forces that give rise to the particular structure of the African American lifestyle

  • To provide the African American student with a feeling of personal identity, personal pride and personal worth

  • To provide the students an opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of the history, social organization, current status, and problems of African Americans and their contributions to the American heritage
